The Pinnacles is a classic Brisbane trail run with hills that keep coming all the way around.

Most locals will state a preference of anti-clockwise or clockwise direction, but we reckon clockwise is the most fun – starting with the quiet, rolling hills around Gold Creek reservoir before turning for South Boundary Road and the 'downhill' blast home.

If running clockwise, start at the dam at Gold Creek Reservoir and stick to the wide fire trails that head uphill, left, passing a right hand singletrack turn-off for the lower Gold Creek loop. Keep left at the junction around 3kms and stay on the fire trails as you roll up and down until 7.6kms, where you take the turn at the gate on your right. Keep bearing right at Leland's Corner (do NOT turn left down Creek Road trail) and head for South Boundary Road. Turn right at the junction and stick to South Boundary's wide, rolling firetrail until 16kms (making sure you stick to South Boundary and don't head down Centre Rd by mistake). Take the right hand turn down to Gold Creek and back to the starting point.

    Pro Tips

    1. Google can sometimes offer you some offroad directions to get to the Gold Creek car park. Make sure you access Gold Creek via Brookfield to avoid this.
    2. Take the short cut straight across the top of South Boundary Rd at 15.6kms to avoid accidentally heading down Centre Road trail.
    3. Tag on a loop of the lowerGold Creek singletrack circuitif you're looking round up your Km's.
    4. Try this loop both ways to see which direction you prefer.
    5. Stop for coffee at Brookfield General Store after your run.

      Enjoy the run.
